On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the annual English Reading Contest for our 7th grade class winners once again filled the assembly hall at MWG with excitement, suspense, and plenty of applause. The atmosphere was fantastic—not only because all participants were exceptionally well prepared, but also thanks to the enthusiastic support from their classmates, who cheered them on throughout the event. With so many strong performances, choosing a winner was anything but easy for the five members of the jury. Each reader impressed with confident performances and engaging interpretations of their texts. In the end, however, Miro from class 7b succeeded in the decisive moments. With great expression and confidence, he brought his story to life and even managed to make the characters of an unfamiliar book vivid and memorable for everyone in the audience.
With this outstanding performance, Miro will represent our school at the English Reading Contest of the European Schools in Essen. The next round will take place in a few weeks at the Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium (former Mädchengymnasium Essen-Borbeck). We warmly congratulate Miro on his success and wish him the very best of luck—we’ll definitely be keeping our fingers crossed for him!
A big thank you to everyone who took part in or helped organize the reading competition. Special thanks also to our technical team for ensuring everything ran smoothly and professionally. Events like this truly show how much talent and team spirit our school has to offer!
